General Rules and Regulations

Demotion

  • Willful disobedience or insubordination of any order given by a higher ranking unit.

  • Indecent, profane, or disrespect towards other members of RRO.

  • Conduct unbecoming of an officer of the police department.

  • Officers are not to violate the San Andreas Penal code. Officers can be held responsible out of character for in-game penal code violations.

  • Any law enforcement officer, provided they have cause, may stop another LEO or Fire Unit. This stop may only be used to confirm that they are in fact a legitimate first responder. Once the person in question's identity is confirmed, the officer shall let the first responder go without further delay. Any perceived violations shall be handled with out of game complaint forms, no interaction shall go beyond a simple confirmation that someone is an active first responder and that the vehicle isn't stolen. Exception: Sergeants+ may stop another LEO unit if traffic violations have been committed and may chat about those violations. They may not issue any citations or arrests within these stops.

  • Causing multiple accidents or issues forcing a stop in patrol due to carelessness or lack of proper judgement.

Policy

  • All members of the police department will be in their appropriate rank uniform on patrol unless allowed a new uniform by a subdivision or rank structure.

  • All Officers in uniform are required to provide a reasonable amount of information to identify themselves to the public and are required to identify the agency they are with.

  • Examples of identification are first name (can be made up or part of username), call sign, or badge number.

  • Having your patrol vehicle completely hidden from public view, unless given authorization by a Sergeant+, is against this policy subsection (i.e. parking inside of a building or garage in the effort to catch speeders). However, officers are allowed to be partially hidden.

  • No officer shall release, alter, deface, or remove any department or community records or forms unless under order by the Police Department Command Staff.

  • All police officers will use the Chain of Command for any formal ideas / suggestions or concerns.

All police officers will hold roleplay to the fullest extent possible, they shall not participate in FailRP or attempt to end a scene early just to go to another call. As a LEO, your character must value its life during scenarios.

Police Department FailRP - Definitions

FailRP Definition

  • Fail Roleplay (FailRP) is defined as any unrealistic, impossible, or “one-in-a-million chance” roleplay that occurs in-game.

  • This includes the use of menus, game mechanics, scripts, vehicles, peds, actions, or knowledge that would be considered unrealistic, impossible, or abusing in-game or out-of-game mechanics.

  • All officers must value their life and the lives of others when making decisions on patrol. All decisions must be realistic and have good-intentioned reasoning behind them. Actions should not be taken that put lives in danger, escalate situations unnecessarily, or do not reflect the standards of the police department.

Police Department FailRP - Examples
  • FailRP:

    • Changing vehicles, uniforms, or weapons while out on patrol.

    • Repairing your vehicle while in a pursuit or out on patrol.

    • Using your knowledge of GTA to identify that a person or vehicle is a real player and not an AI and using that as a reason to target them.

    • Using text chat as a radio when out of radio range, to get past a busy radio channel, or when you’re dead. Similarly, using Discord as your radio to get around a busy radio channel.

    • An officer tells you that they are being shot in a Discord call and you respond to their location to back them up.

    • Being shot and roleplaying that it did not affect you or it was very minor.

    • Running into a building alone with a barricaded armed suspect inside and/or failing to adhere to orders of scene command.

    • Standing in front of or behind a vehicle, hoping that the vehicle drives toward you as an excuse to open fire on the driver.

    • Driving recklessly or carelessly in a pursuit or to a call, putting the lives of others and yourself in danger by not driving appropriately.

    • Escalating a situation with multiple armed gang members by provoking them and trying to get your way no matter what.

    • Trying to use your weapons, tools, or radio when you have a gun pointed at you or are being held hostage.

  • Not FailRP:

    • Driving to a new district or area-of-patrol and only teleporting when being transported by county medical or when choosing a new character.

    • Going to a police station to change vehicles, uniforms, or weapons. Unracking long-guns from a patrol vehicle.

    • Repairing your vehicle while not involved in a scene or priority.

    • Treating players and AI equally by only stopping based on legitimate reasons (accurate descriptions, license plates, etc).

    • Separating your in-character and out-of-character knowledge by only responding to things in-game and over RTO, not to things in a Discord call or other third-party communication.

    • Recognizing that being shot anywhere (even in a vest) would be extremely painful and roleplaying that out.

    • Waiting for backup, SRU, or scene command to determine a plan of action before entering a building with a barricaded armed suspect.

    • Standing safely off to the side of a vehicle that still has a driver in it.

    • Performing emergency driving safely by clearing intersections, driving carefully for the road/pedestrian conditions, and only using code 2 or 3 driving when absolutely necessary.

    • Avoiding a deadly confrontation by deescalating and knowing when it's time to leave if you are faced with multiple armed gang members that refuse to comply.

    • Reasonably going along with the demands of the person pointing a gun at you until you are saved or have an opportunity to realistically make a move.

The examples above are understood as including but not limited to. Each situation is different and encompassing all possible Fail Roleplay examples in one document would be impossible. Instead, please reach out to a member of the police department chain of command if you have any questions.

From your character's point of view, they only have one life and must value it. An officer should never intentionally put themselves in danger unless it is to protect others, save one's life or the life of someone else. An officer would realistically refrain from putting themself in a situation where their life could end or they could sustain life changing injuries unless absolutely necessary. An officer must at every opportunity attempt to protect one's self at all times.

  • Officers shall not force roleplay against any member, especially civilians.

  • All police officers shall not dispatch themselves to calls, they must allow a dispatcher to attach them. If no dispatcher is available, officers should use the best judgement when responding to calls.
